best sports bars in St. Louis

I may not be much of a sports fan, but I am a fan of anywhere with fantastic food and drinks. In my experience, sports bars usually win in both of those categories, especially in St. Louis. So whether you’re in it for the big game or just the food, here are my picks for the ten best sports bars in St. Louis.

Map of the Best Sports Bars in St. Louis

My Personal Favorite: The Post

Located in downtown Maplewood, The Post is definitely my favorite sports bar in St. Louis. This joint has a full bar and extensive beer selection, so whatever drink you want, they probably have it! The drinks are great, the food is delicious, and they have fantastic happy hour deals.

In terms of food, the cheesesteak sandwich is very popular, as are the wings. The Post has several TVs if you’re watching the game, and they also have a shuffleboard and foosball table, so this is a fun hangout. If you’re in Maplewood, The Post is a must-visit!

Best Pizza: OB Clark’s

Located in Brentwood, this bar is virtually a 10-minute drive from wherever you are in the city. OB Clark’s has been family-owned for over 40 years and has a reputation for being the best hockey bar in St. Louis. You might even spot some of the Blues players hanging out here after a game.

Not only is this a great place to watch hockey, but it also serves up some of the best pizza in the area! In fact, everything on the menu is solid, especially the wings.

Best Sports Bar Food: Mike Duffy’s

Mike Duffy’s claims to have the best burgers in St. Louis, and I would say that they are definitely near the top of the list. They also have sandwiches, pizza, and a vast beer selection, so you won’t leave hungry!

With three locations, this is a convenient and popular hangout in the St. Louis area. Mike Duffy’s has a vast menu, fantastic daily specials, live music, and special events, so there’s always something fun going on. The atmosphere is lively but still laid-back, making this is a great spot to grab dinner, drinks, or just hang out.

Best Downtown Hangout: The Wheelhouse

Located downtown, the brick walls, tall ceilings, and huge windows give The Wheelhouse a lofty, industrial-like atmosphere. Catering to a younger crowd, this bar has plenty of trendy seating options between the patio, the bar, and indoor tables.

Bottomless mimosas and margaritas make this a popular spot for brunch on the weekends, but it’s also a great place to pre-game before heading to a Cardinals or Blues game. For a lively crowd and a fun downtown atmosphere, check out The Wheelhouse.

Best Low-Key Hangout: Weber’s Front Row

Located near my college campus, Weber’s always had (and still has) great food and drink deals. Even though this bar is situated near Webster University, it’s far from a college bar. You’ll see people of all ages enjoying the classic sports bar atmosphere, delicious food, and great drinks - it’s a St. Louis favorite!

This is a perfect spot for Kansas City Chiefs fans; every time they play, this bar is a sea of red. While you’re here, be sure to order the steak sandwich; it’s my favorite!

Nick’s Pub

Nick’s Pub has 104 beers on tap, live music, and fantastic daily specials, making this one of the most fun hangouts in the city. The room upstairs is a game room, where you’ll find darts, shuffleboard, pool, pinball, and more!

This bar does have an indoor smoking area, which could be good or bad depending on your preferences. However, this is one of Dogtown’s many gems and is ideal for game and beer lovers.

Best Bar Before a Cardinal’s Game: Paddy O’s

Situated next to Busch Stadium, Paddy O’s is a must-visit before or after a Cardinal’s game. At this hangout, you’ll find 6 bars, huge TVs, a dance floor, a rooftop patio, and the occasional live DJ. This atmosphere is ideal for those who love a party!

If you park in the Paddy O’s lot for a baseball game, you can get a free drink with your parking pass. Being so close to the stadium, this is a great deal!

Best College Sports Bar: Fieldhouse

Fieldhouse is located next to Saint Louis University, so this joint is always filled with SLU kids. However, this place is better than your average college bar. The food is top-notch, there are plenty of big-screen TVs, and the service is always excellent.

The Fieldhouse’s Midtown location is a great spot to grab dinner and drinks before or after a concert at the Fox or Powell Hall, if you’re a music-lover like me. However, if you’re a Billiken fan, like my husband, definitely visit after the game!

Best Atmosphere: CJ Muggs

With dark wood paneling and warm lighting, CJ Muggs will make you feel like you’ve been transported to the set of Cheers. This joint is an excellent place to watch the game and enjoy the fantastic food.

Menu highlights include chicken chili, chicken nachos, chicken marsala, and shrimp and grits. As a bonus, the happy hour deals are great, and they usually have live music multiple nights every week.

Best All Around: The Over/Under Bar

The Over/Under Bar is located downtown, and it is one of the best spots to grab a drink before the game. This joint has 37 flat-screen TVs, a giant projection screen on the back patio, and a free shuttle to all of the Cardinals, Blues, and SLU games.

Add in a vast food and drink menu, and you’ve got an unbeatable pre- or post-game hangout.
