A Journey Through History
Billy Bob's Wonderland traces its roots back to 1989 when it first opened its doors in East Barboursville. Originally a Showbiz Pizza Place, it underwent a rebranding and redecoration to avoid corporate interference. This strategic move allowed BBWL to escape the upcoming Concept Unification conversion. With locations in Ashland, KY, and South Charleston, WV, BBWL found its permanent home in 2003, where it stands larger and more vibrant than ever before.

Restoration and Resilience
Over the years, Billy Bob's Wonderland has faced its fair share of challenges. In an attempt to restore the show's magic, Aaron Fechter embarked on a restoration journey but found himself entangled in a dispute with the owner. Thankfully, in 2014-2015, David Ferguson of DSF Robots and Goofy Gas Fillin' Station fame breathed new life into the show. Broken movements were repaired, the TiVo show controller was replaced, and the cosmetics were refreshed.
Yet, the show's resilience was tested again in 2019 when it fell into disrepair. Masks melted, arms broke, and some characters were left motionless. However, a new wave of restoration efforts by Braylon Giles and Anthony Ybarra breathed life back into the show. Although some parts were unofficial, the show's charm was restored to its former glory.

A Promise of Improvements
Under the control of Fun City Arcade since July 2023, Billy Bob's Wonderland continues to promise exciting improvements. The prize wall is filled with tempting treasures, and the interior is undergoing renovations to create new party rooms. The band's maintenance is diligently carried out, ensuring a delightful experience for all visitors.
Looking towards the future, Fechter and the new owner, Mark, are exploring merchandising plans, rekindling the possibility of working with CE once again.
Additional Magic at Billy Bob's Wonderland
Beyond the enchanting show, Billy Bob's Wonderland holds even more wonders. The restaurant houses three spare Rock-afire shows in a trailer, utilizing their animatronics for spare parts. These shows include the original BBWL location in East Barboursville, the Ashland, Kentucky location, and a former CEC 3-Stage in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Moreover, the restaurant offers an outdoor amusement area with mini-golf and formerly go-karts, adding to the excitement and fun-filled adventures.
