The hearts of loyal 'Bringing Up Bates' fans sank as UPtv announced the cancellation of the beloved reality TV series. Disappointed viewers took to social media, desperately urging other networks to step in and save the show from disappearing entirely. The series, which centered around the lives of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates and their 19 children, was set to premiere its 11th season in early February. However, UPtv had other plans, leaving fans devastated.

A Surprising Cancellation

UPtv's announcement on January 18th shocked fans who had eagerly awaited the upcoming season. The new season promised significant milestones, including Nathan Bates' wedding to Esther Keyes in October 2021 and Katie Bates' wedding to Travis Clark in December 2021. Unfortunately, these joyous moments will now remain unseen by the show's dedicated viewers. In a Twitter message, UPtv explained that they would be focusing their 2022 programming on movies and a new scripted series, forcing 'Bringing Up Bates' to be left behind.

UPtv expressed gratitude to the loyal fan base and extended appreciation to Kelly Jo and Gil for opening their family's home over the past ten seasons. In response, the Bates family released a statement through People, expressing their acceptance of the cancellation and their belief in divine timing. They embrace the upcoming changes and look forward to what the future holds for their family and the network.

Hope Springs Eternal

With the cancellation news still fresh, devastated fans turned to social media to voice their disappointment. Many pledged to cancel their subscriptions to UPtv in protest. However, amidst the sorrow, a glimmer of hope shone as fans started urging other networks to come to the rescue. One fervent tweet directed at GAC Family TV read, "@GACfamilyTV Please pick up @BringingUpBates for your network! It’s a wholesome show that'd be right up your alley!" Fans also suggested platforms like Netflix, Hallmark Channel, discovery+, and TLC as potential new homes for the series. However, as of yet, no announcements have been made regarding the release of the unaired episodes on another channel or streaming service.

Speculations Arise

While UPtv attributed the cancelation to a shift in programming focus, some fans couldn't help but speculate on alternative reasons. The abrupt announcement, just weeks before the scheduled premiere, fueled theories among viewers. One incident that caught attention was a video shared by Carlin Bates on Instagram in November 2021. In the now-deleted clip, members of the Bates family appeared to mock the tragic murder of George Floyd during a game of charades. Critics swiftly called out the video's racist undertones, urging UPtv to cancel the show.

Others pointed to the presence of Trace and Lawson Bates at the pro-Trump rally in Washington, D.C., on January 6, 2021. Although Lawson clarified that he did not participate in the U.S. Capitol insurrection, their involvement raised eyebrows. Some fans speculated that the Bates family's association with the scandal-ridden Duggar family could be a factor in the cancellation decision. Others wondered if there might be another yet-to-be-revealed scandal lurking in the background. The uncertainty led one fan to tweet, "This has to be big; why else cancel the biggest show on the network?"

The devoted fanbase of 'Bringing Up Bates' now awaits anxiously, clinging to the hope that their pleas for a new network to rescue the show will not fall on deaf ears. Until then, they continue to celebrate the cherished memories and lessons shared by the Bates family for the past ten seasons.
