Shawn Johnson East, born on January 19, 1992, began her gymnastic journey at the young age of 3. Her parents noticed her keen interest in gymnastics and fueled her passion for the sport. Under the guidance of her coach, Liang Chow, she excelled in gymnastics and even appeared on "Dancing with the Stars."

At the age of 12, Shawn entered the Developmental Program and achieved impressive rankings, qualifying as Junior International Elite. She won the U.S. Junior National All-Around Championship at the 2005 U.S. Classic and went on to win numerous trophies, including the all-around at the American Cup and the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship. Her achievements earned her a spot on the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team.

Unfortunately, Shawn sustained a knee injury in 2010, but she made a comeback and officially retired on June 3, 2012, due to persistent knee issues.

Shawn Johnson Husband Injury Update

In a recent YouTube video on The East Family channel, Shawn Johnson and Andrew East opened up about a challenging time they faced. Throughout their six-year relationship, hospital visits were rare, except for Shawn's planned knee surgery. However, around the time of their daughter Drew's birth, the couple had to make multiple emergency room trips.

During one of his morning workouts, Andrew fainted while lifting a 185-pound deadlift bar. He remained unconscious for minutes and had no memory of the fall. This incident raised concerns, especially because Andrew had no previous head injuries in his football career.

As new parents dealing with sleep deprivation, it is possible that Andrew's increased caffeine intake, resumption of wine consumption, and dehydration contributed to the circumstances leading to his severe injury. Fortunately, a friend who was present during the incident assisted and prompted a call to Shawn, leading to a rush to the emergency room.

Although initially expected to be released early, further evaluation was necessary due to irregularities in an EKG. However, subsequent tests clarified that the heart concerns were the result of an examination error.

Despite the challenges they faced, Shawn and Andrew described the experience as humbling upon returning home.

In conclusion, while Andrew East does not have diabetes, he and Shawn Johnson have faced their fair share of health issues. They have remained resilient and continue to embrace a happy and healthy life together.
