A monument honoring Richard Jewell, as well as other law enforcement and first responders, was dedicated in November 2021 at the Quilt of Remembrance in Centennial Olympic Park.

Born on December 17, 1962, Richard Jewell became an American security guard and law enforcement officer known for his courageous actions during the Centennial Olympic Park bombing at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. As a security guard for the event, Jewell discovered a backpack containing three pipe bombs on the park grounds. In 2006, Jewell was honored by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue for his heroic actions.

Jewell's legacy includes the libel suits he filed against several media outlets and his former employer. While he eventually settled with most of them, his fight for vindication was not about financial gain but about restoring his reputation.
